Methodology and Data Sources

To ensure complete transparency and statistical reliability, we specify the origin and method of calculation of our e-commerce search engine's performance.

  • Representative sample: The figures presented are based on the analysis of 27 active e-commerce sites, selected for their sector representativeness.

  • Use of the median: In order to provide an accurate picture of the market, we present the median performance value to reflect the “typical” gain observed by an e-merchant using Sensefuel.

  • Data source: These indicators are extracted directly from our proprietary analysis tool, which records every search interaction on our clients' websites.

  • Double conversion measurement: For each segment, we isolate two key moments:

    1. Initial gain (A/B Test): Measurement of the search conversion rate over the first 30 days compared to the pre-existing solution.

    2. The 12-month gain (trained AI): Measurement of the year-over-year (YoY) search conversion rate to demonstrate the full power of AI after a year of continuous learning.

Defining e-commerce search KPIs

  • Search Conversion Rate (Initial): Immediate gain measured during the 30 days of the A/B test compared to the previous solution.

  • Search Conversion Rate (12 months): YoY performance measured after one year of AI training.

  • Search vs. Navigation Conversion Ratio (12 months): This KPI compares the search conversion rate (sessions with search) to the navigation conversion rate (sessions without search). It expresses the performance multiplier generated by the use of search.

  • Contribution to Revenue (12 months): Share of revenue generated by sessions using the search engine.

  • Search Usage Rate (12 months): Share of visits that use search.
